What are the aims and
objectives of IJSE?
- To critically and analytically assess a wide range
of issues relating to public policy in small states.
- To publish articles and review books that are
relevant to both scholars and practitioners involved
in policy making and doing policy analysis relevant to
small states.
- To disseminate findings, opinions, and
recommendations to the relevant audience.
What are the areas on which
articles are published in IJSE?
IJSE is multidisciplinary in scope. All research
articles, survey papers or review articles and research
notes concerned with global, regional,
and domestic policy issues concerning small economies
will be considered. They may be case studies, comparative
analyses, or theory construction, etc. This may include,
among others, areas such as economy, education, health,
law, and technology.
How do you ensure that the
articles published in IJSE are of academically high
quality?
Acceptance of a piece of work for publication in IJSE
largely depends on the article's intellectual quality,
originality, and focus on public policy, policy
institutions, processes, or policy impacts. Manuscripts are peer-reviewed by authoritative
academics or practitioners in the concerned fields.
Peers are identified depending on the area discussed in
the article. Each submission will be reviewed by at
least two reviewers before reaching a decision. Authors
are encouraged to suggest potential referees.
Manuscripts are first reviewed by the Editorial Board
before they are accepted. Only accepted articles are
reviewed by peers.

Appointment to the Editorial Board is based on the
candidate's academic or practical experience.

How should papers be
submitted?
Manuscripts should be submitted in the prescribed
template and style sheet available here to download
(Word - 353 KB). Final manuscripts,
together with the Publication and Assignment of
Copyright Agreement appended to the authoring
template, should be emailed to
ijse@maldivesresearch.org.
Is it a print journal?
IJSE is published both in print and online.
How can the journal be
accessed?
The premier issue of the journal is to be published
in November/December 2008. The online version of this
issue will be made available online freely.
Who are responsible for the
publication of the journal?
MaldivesResearch is the publisher of IJSE.
How is it financed?
MaldivesResearch is also responsible for the
financial management of the journal.
