IJSE - Frequently asked questions

What are the aims and objectives of IJSE?

  • To critically and analytically assess a wide range of issues relating to public policy in small states.
  • To publish articles and review books that are relevant to both scholars and practitioners involved in policy making and doing policy analysis relevant to small states.
  • To disseminate findings, opinions, and recommendations to the relevant audience.

What are the areas on which articles are published in IJSE?

IJSE is multidisciplinary in scope. All research articles, survey papers or review articles and research notes concerned with global, regional, and domestic policy issues concerning small economies will be considered. They may be case studies, comparative analyses, or theory construction, etc. This may include, among others, areas such as economy, education, health, law, and technology.

How do you ensure that the articles published in IJSE are of academically high quality?

Acceptance of a piece of work for publication in IJSE largely depends on the article's intellectual quality, originality, and focus on public policy, policy institutions, processes, or policy impacts.  Manuscripts are peer-reviewed by authoritative academics or practitioners in the concerned fields. Peers are identified depending on the area discussed in the article. Each submission will be reviewed by at least two reviewers before reaching a decision. Authors are encouraged to suggest potential referees.

Manuscripts are first reviewed by the Editorial Board before they are accepted. Only accepted articles are reviewed by peers.
